Uncommonly Generous

See what God can do when we give together

When you give to Heartland, you’re helping reach people with the love of Jesus. Because of your giving, lives are being changed, communities around the world are being restored and relationships are being strengthened. Thank you for what you’re helping to make possible!

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:6-72

But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.

1 Chronicles 29:14

Frequent questions

We know that churches have a reputation for talking a lot about money. So we get that most people show up at a church with their pockets guarded. But we also know that as we follow Jesus, we’ll give like Jesus. Because Jesus knew that we’re most alive when we give ourselves away (Acts 20:35; Matthew 16:24-26). Jesus also wants us to see that ultimately, God owns all things and gives to us for our provision, enjoyment, and to bless others. (Deuteronomy 10:14; Psalm 24:1). Why do the scriptures encourage us to be generous with our finances? Not only does it fuel God’s mission in the world, it also fuels our own faith. If we can learn to trust Him with the first of what he’s given us, then we can learn to trust Him with everything. (Malachi 3:10; Philippians 4:17; II Corinthians 9:6-15). As we follow Jesus together, we are continually learning to give our money, time and talents away. When we do this together, we are advancing the work God wants to do in us and through us.

First, start with your heart. God always cares most about the condition of our hearts. That’s true when we give as well. Giving is intensely personal between you and God, so take time to pray, “God help me see the condition of my heart” so I can give to you with joy and gratitude for all you’ve given me.

Second, step in. Giving is an invitation to trust God by giving back to him a portion of what he’s given us. Even a little becomes a lot when God is in it. People often wonder what’s the “right” amount to give. Whatever amount forces you to trust God.

Finally, set a plan. We believe every person should have a plan to support the church that they love. One of the best ways is to automate your giving. If you love Heartland and consider it your home, consider setting up your giving on a monthly basis.

Remember that when you give, you strengthen our mission and you deepen your faith.

Heartland is an accredited member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, a national non-profit accreditation agency with the highest standards of financial integrity and accountability. Aside from the ECFA, we undergo an annual audit by a third party firm, who reports their findings directly to Heartland’s Board of Directors.

Annual contribution statements are emailed to you at the close of the calendar year, typically by mid-January. You can also access these statements in our giving portal or by contacting us.

The people who give at Heartland are many. Most give because they love this church and they want to be a part of what God is doing through us.

Heartland’s primary fund for people to give to is our General Fund. This operating fund resources everything from Kids and Student Ministries to our adult discipling efforts. It also equips our Sunday services, Care & Counseling, our many missional endeavors, special events, staff salaries, leadership training, and (you guessed it), the free coffee.

Heartland also has some funds that we encourage people to give to above-and-beyond their giving to the General Fund. These include the Compassion Fund, which provides practical and timely assistance in  times of crisis to those in our community; and the Food Pantry Fund, which supplies our own food pantry with necessary supplies to give to those seeking assistance.

Yes. Our annual budget is approved and monitored by Heartland’s Board of Directors. To request a copy or learn more, please contact us.

When people choose to give to Heartland, they can direct their contributions to one of three funds. We encourage people to give primarily to the General Fund, which underpins the church’s annual budget, including ministries, operations, and outreach initiatives. If people want to give in addition to the General Fund, they have the option to contribute to the Compassion Fund, designed to assist those facing severe financial hardships, and the Food Pantry Fund, which ensures that our pantry is well-stocked with essential items for those in need. Together, these funds empower Heartland to make a meaningful difference in our community.
